“Most everywhere I look, I see Helldivers 2 fans parroting lines from the game and acting out missions as real-life military operations. It’s undeniably part of the fun and charm of the game to take it so seriously that it borders on parody”

They already know whats next. a good chunk of them are about to be joining 10,000 other poeple who got “restructured out” while Randy Pitchford makes a couple dozen million dollars out of the whole thing
Honestly, the best thing about Helldivers is that within like 2 weeks of release we’re getting stories that read like things that came out of Eve Online without having to play Eve lol.
The real danger here is to emulation in general. The way the suit is is worded, if it goes to court and Nintendo wins, could have ramifications for emulation going forward and give Nintendo a legal precedent to go against older projects like Dolphin, SNES emulation, etc.
Yeah that fact is too hard for Nintendo to grasp
The unrelenting focus on revenue vs. human happiness/customer enjoyment has never been clearer than a pilot program like this. It’s blind dollar chasing with absolute certainty that it will diminish customer loyalty/engagement.
I think what is being missed here is that I doubt there will be any way to access or view the current prices other than in the store itself. I think what they are largely counting on is that customers will a) not really pay attention to the price or notice the price changes regardless and b) will be unlikely to leave…
I hope it doesn’t work, but there’s definitely cases where Wendy’s has a captive audience (drive-thrus in particular) and/or banking on people having limited time and deciding on the sunk cost of travel and I think it’s notably dastardly for this reason.
Surge pricing works for Uber and Lyft not because of their market power, but because it also creates additional incentive for drivers to drive during that time. There is also potentially a huge difference in urgency for users of car services. If I am running late for a meeting, or flight, I might be happy to pay more…
Hm. Where should we go for lunch?
I know! Let’s go to the place that specifically raises their prices at lunch time!
This seems very overpriced to me, especially if it’s a centralized kitchen model, as that should reduce costs. Salad and Go uses a centralized kitchen and is much cheaper. I’d still try it once anyway though.
This reminds me of the story from a long time ago, where the son would race against his dads ghost in a racing game... but never would beat it so he could play against his dad anytime he wanted.
Same. I got right in last night. Zero wait.
The AFK kick patch will do wonders to mitigate the crowded servers problem. People are staying logged in overnight either intentionally or accidentally.
Why is anyone even caring about times yet? I mean, yes RBR looks good, but a 1:31.344 wouldn’t have gotten you out of Q2 last season, and the cars are thought to be faster this year compared to last year. So clearly there’s lots of performance left on the table right now—just like every pre-season testing event.
Fair, but that’s just how much I don’t like MMOs and paying a monthly subscription.
They’ve even added Stormblood to the free trial mix. That’s basically 3/5 of the entire content of FF14 to date.
I care. I’m just unfathomably lazy and would likely just never play it until it’s convenient enough for me to pick up and play. And if there was ever a physical release? Immediate purchase.
Well, if they’re employees of a company selling his product their job is, in a sense, help this guy (and many other corporations) make money.
Stop posting already.
