I have one. It’s fine. Absolutely fine. For reference, I’ve had a manual ‘84 GTI, ‘88 GTI, ‘96 Jetta and ‘10 CC. MY ‘17 Jetta compares favorably to any of those.

I have a 2017 5MT Jetta S. The level of equipment is fine, and it’s less than the new one. It’s a relatively entertaining car that I drive 160 miles a day and get 40-45 MPG in.

I had the 1.8L 1984 GTI. It was a performance revelation. Imminently tossable with a 0-60 time under 10 seconds (quick at the time). GM V8's were putting out anemic horsepower numbers back then.

Racing is dangerous, people are fallible, shit happens. Meanwhile a 23-year old lost his life in a professional bike race yesterday and I don’t see anyone losing their minds over that.
