I don’t think we’re leaning on the side of Apple. I think Apple’s policies suck, personally. But I also don’t know that Epic can actually win this fight, or at least the most recent fight to keep their game on the App Store, though I think there’s potentially a lot of good if they do. And I think some of the ways

Honestly, a lot of people seem to be working on the wrong idea of what a monopoly is considering (last I checked) iOS isn’t even the market leader and at the end of the day Apple could just close the App store entirely out of spite and relaunch it with a different name.

Of course they support Epic. They’re hoping for a price cut too.

I spotted the fanboi!

Do I get a prize!?

This is so on the button. I’m an attorney, Epic breached first and then (more or less) is saying the contract was so unfair they were forced to breach.

That almost NEVER goes well for the party that breaches, and trust me when I say that neither Epic nor Apple want the federal anti-monopoly guys sniffing around their

Asking for special treatment for yourself and also hoping Apple would extend it to others is not the same as not asking for special treatment.

Epic is going to lose... epically. They are going to get kicked so hard in the nuts, their grandchildren will feel it.

This whole idea of weaponizing your fanbase to win your lawsuits thing doesn’t seem to be a great idea. When you think about all the devs that Epic could be hurting with this tantrum, it’s pretty bad.

Anyone noticed that Sweeney wrote “Apple is not willing to make the changes necessary to allow us to provide Android users” at the bottom? I guess he sent the same email to Google and just forgot to change the last Android to iOs lol.

Meanwhile Apple’s bringing receipts showing Epic wanted it’s own side deal before this tantrum

Weaponizing the playerbase really rubs me the wrong way.

I’m sure the kids that Special Effect work with really care about where the money came from.

Conversely, Epic, the one who filed for this preliminary injunction, is in trouble if they lose.

It’s to be consistent... Apple has revoked Facebook’s apple developer accounts in the past for similar attempts at circumventing the garden. Obviously Facebook has accounts back, but there also wasn’t the attempt of forcing the issue by going to court over it.

I hope they all lose.

I hope this goes badly for Epic.

Just like Epic has the right to split it 88/12, Apple has the right to split it 70/30. Apple also doesn’t have a majority of the market, they have one ecosystem. Nobody buys an iphone expecting access to the google play store for apps.

I’d say that their paid exclusivity model is draconian. And how is it really an

nothing? There is not a smoking gun here, but lets not pretend a company who owns 40% of epic couldn’t influence this situation

If Unreal Engine is so used, wouldn’t that make it a virtual monopoly as well?

Tencent teaching us fairness in monopolies. Excuse me while I vomit myself inside out.
