I have to call BS on Baraka’s bet on the Ice Dragon. It is massively unfair to let people bet after the week the bet first aired; there is so much more knowledge now than then (there WAS NO ICE DRAGON when that bet was created!)

Episode is up.

Back!

They did it the season before as well. I have no idea how that maps to “years.” I will agree the odds are ridiculous, and last year the leaks meant that cheaters ruled the leaderboards.

Yep.

Once more into the breach.

Obligatory:

When is the no-more-Kinja strike starting?

Wow that sounds pretty much exactly how you would expect an El-P / Blade Runner soundtrack to sound.

No threading means two a-holes can sideline an entire topic. Also, the poorly-managed transition drove away a lot of core commenters, meaning a lot of the cultural memory is now in places like the-avocado.

I am amazed I even found these Sundance articles in the Kinja trash fire. Since they seem to have stopped tagging film articles back in November, film related posts don’t pop up in the rss feed anymore. Which my only way of discerning meaningful content in this mess.

“Vibrant.”

For some reason, Ignatiy, your film reviews do not always show up in the RSS feed. It may be a tagging / categorization problem? For a while I thought you had quit the AVC.

Seems like a lot of people got out for good. I remember when every movie review would have a thriving comments section. Back in the old days. Back before Kinja.

It was worth it just to see not one but two Dowd comment replies. Congrats!

Right now I am using a feedbin.com as my rss reader. To find feeds, just try adding /rss to the end of an AVClub url. This works on the main page. This also works with any avclub url with /tag/ in it. Ex.: https://www.avclub.com/tag/big-issues/rss

Thanks for the honest comment! It is refreshing to see an acknowledgement that this release is not going as successfully as had been expected.

I setup RSS today, it is the only way to go. Sadly though, as a result, all those random long-form articles that made the AVC the AVC will never be seen. Also, commenting is dead. I can’t believe the state of the film review comments these days.
