I actually park only half a day, having worked afternoon-evening shift. Sometimes I move my car but the key to not having to move it is by befriending you local meter maid/man. And as long as the meter's fed, everybody's happy.

This is a great idea. I used to "feed the meter" every 2 hours while at work in the city. It's a nice break from work from time to time but can get annoying if you're stuck in a meeting. On the other hand, I figure some cities will frown on this as they make more money ticketing overdue patrons.
