See, this guy gets it. We’ve got a ‘17 Sienna XLE AWD and it’s infinitely more useful than my friend’s Highlander (or my other friend’s Volvo XC90). Yay vans!

I worked at Toyota when the concept debuted. The rear doors and front ‘suicide’ doors were cool as well as well-engineered. I really wanted to drive this one around the parking lot but special projects said no way...

Thank you for including the picture with the rear doors opened. I remember this concept, and I remember wondering how the sliding doors would work with those fender flares.

I’m convinced that people on automotive blogs think that anything not sold in the U.S. is automatically cool. This “thing” is hideous and would be torn to shreds in this comment section if Toyota used this design for the Sienna.

I don’t hate it. Regardless of what they call it, if it looks reasonably close to these sketches, it will be the best looking minivan on the market.

There is no need to invent anything. These vehicles already have an acronym. It’s MPV.

Damn Texans.

Sadly you are probably right but man do I love the simple clean lines on this thing even if it is a little too flowy for my taste in trucks

Quick someone tweet Trump that allowing in this sweet Mazda and the Hyundai truck would strengthen US ties to the Japanese and Koreans as the Norks start making more noises and the Republic of Korea doesn’t tow the US hardline with Xi.

Doesn’t look hideously ugly and murderous enough. Would not buy.

A similarly priced base 911 weighs 300-400 lbs more and has less power.   A C8 Corvette weighs like 3650 lbs.    3100 lbs is pretty good for a modern mass produced car meeting 2020 safety regulations.  Sure a Miata is light, but drop in a heavier 400 hp engine and it will flop all over the place.

I’m sure Lotus’s suspension magic fuckery is why this car must be as great to drive as all the reviewers make it out to be, but agreed that 3200 lbs is downright lardy by Lotus standards. At least there’s still the Exige (~2500 lbs) and Elise (~2000 lbs).

To me, the uniqueness of “it’s not a 911” is a pretty big selling point. I’m not at the point in my life where a $100,000 car of any type is in the offing, but it sure seems like it would be a bummer to drop  100k and then see every Tom, Dick and Sally driving the same damn car.

Four Miatas.

e30 M3 “computer” was also outdated 10 years after, and what about the car phone ?

And why would the infotainment not work in 10 years ?

I mean, in both cases the infotainment won’t work in about 10 years so who cares.

Get a Morgan 3 Wheeler.

I would hate waking up one day realizing I bought a Corvette instead of a 911

What you say in “verdict” is spot on. I don’t really think there’s any bad cars in the 100K sports car category, it’s really down to what will make the owner happy.
