For the second outing in this new era of Doctor Who, Chris Chibnall offers an episode that’s…
There have been so many Spider-Man video games that there is an entire fucking wikipedia page devoted to listing them all.
A Portrait of the Artist
Wat? I played several spider man games on various consoles.
He doesn’t really spy on the city. The city is already being spied on by their shitty Bloomberg Mayor Norman Osborn and he just taps into it to actually help people. He also catches homeless people’s lost pigeons.
Agreed. I just replied to somebody else about this. He either willfully is leaving out all the instances in the game where Spider-Man is clearly not working with the NYPD, or just straight missed all the not-very-subtle indications that Spider-Man is still working well within the realm of vigilante justice without the…
Yeah, this article made me realize we’re actually out of problems.
Honestly if I lived in a comic book world I’d want all of the “regular” cops to be as fascist and violent as Frank Castle because it’s the only way a “regular” cop could ever hope to stand up to the massive quantity of criminals who work for the villains who frequently possess super human powers.
Right, the whole thing with cops is that they are part of the state monopoly on violence. Superheros often are outside that purposefully.
That’s absolutely true, but they belong to an often shady “brotherhood” that frequently places generating revenue above the health and safety of the public, and maintains a culture that shields its worst members of any repercussions from their bad acts, regardless of the severity (up to and including murdering…
I do curfew checks where I work and the police come with us as both a security measurement and a community outreach. One of the mother’s of the kids we did these checks on said she didn’t want the police to come to the house because she didn’t want anyone to get shot. The city I work in (somewhat large and violent) has…
I know this is a weird and unpopular concept for the people of this site, but most cops are just commoners who want to help their community. Definitely take a minute to breathe and compose yourself before responding.
Spider-Man, and all superheroes by extension, are cops. They just don't go fulfilling the will of the State.
Are these all full time employees? If someone is only picking up 20 hours a week at a low wage then I wouldn’t expect them to earn a living wage. I know multiple people who picked up a side gig at an Amazon warehouse so I know that they certainly employ people part time.
This might be valid if these companies weren’t raking in insane amounts of profit at the cost of the work force they employ. It should be absolutely illegal for a company with as much profit as Amazon to be allowed to pay any employees such a low wage that they are unable to afford basic necessities without government…
Executive: We can’t afford to pay them our margins are razor thin. Now hold my champagne while I get into my helicopter to fly to my yatch. I just bought an island and only have the next two weeks to enjoy it.
People: Corporations are evil for low wages. People: I will not pay more than $10 for quality everything.
On the flip side we don’t have to actually interact with the poors when we shop on Amazon, unlike having to look a WalMart employee in the eye while checking out knowing that they’re probably on food stamps just to survive.
