And then, the inevitable.
And then, the inevitable.
"I can't believe it's still runnin'! See the water comin' out da doors?"
Somehow, the 21st-century equivalent (stick-on fender vents) just doesn't seem as charming.
@pauljones: I do like the Colorado/Canyon twins, they're the last of the honest, bare-bones trucks. Small, relatively lightweight, cheap as hell, and shitty interiors that you won't feel bad getting dirty. I'd get one to tow motorcycles and stuff.
I love the picture used for Kentucky, those giant blocks look like AT-AT walkers.
@GIC pours some out for the fallen: Beautiful.
Why has nobody posted this yet?
@GIC pours some out for the fallen: That brought a tear to my eye. Bravo, good sir.
Ah, must be nice to able to rent a car without being slapped with the "under 25 automatic irresponsibility fee" that punishes you for not being born earlier.
Should have given it to Jeremy Clarkson, I hear he's a big fan of Masers.
@eggwich: And just think, it'll do all of that in glorious, boxy late-Malaise-era 80s Italian style!
@mziskin: What the hell did he replace it with? A Prius?
Easy. The Turbonique-powered rocket 1964 Galaxie.
@FormerlyPreferredCustomer: Our local Pontiac/GMC/Buick dealership has, unsurprisingly, a "SUPPORT AMERICA: BUY AMERICAN!!!!!!" banner hanging over its selection of Australian-built G8s and Ontario-built Lacrosses.
@mr_dude: We only helped out in World War II so we could get a glimpse of the autobahn and spend the next 60 years grumbling about how good they have it over there.
@UglyDuckCar: Looks like those guys were spot on with their retrofuturism. Long live the Corvega!
The American AC is a thing of beauty. Our Subaru and Honda Civic air conditioning units are the equivalent of being breathed on by an asthmatic guy with a straw and halitosis. But if there's one thing I could remember about our 1996 Chevy Lumina, it's that it could give someone instant hypothermia in a matter of…
@Ash78: You wouldn't want to make her angry. Her, too.
The Wild Hogs photo isn't accurate, because 3 of them aren't overweight enough. Also, where's their torn 2XL Sturgis 1993 "THESE COLORS DON'T RUN" shirts? Sheesh.
Finally, GM starts to get it. After all, this "bare necessity" stuff was behind some of the world's greatest small cars (Fiat 500, Mini, VW Beetle, 2CV).
