This doesn't sound like an elegant solution from Apple. Supporting multiple aspect ratios and dock connectors is going to create fragmentation in the market.

The NBA has better personalities for reality TV. They might not be the best people personally, but they know how to make people love and hate them. It is like how golf gets more coverage when Tiger Woods is playing. He has star power and causes drama, so it brings more interest to that sport.

I only here about Ovechkin on local sports radio and that is because I am in DC. The other NHL teams and players don't generate enough interest unless they are playing against the Caps.

The NHL doesn't have caliber of players that can drive the national discussion. The NBA might be filled with overpaid prima donnas, but it causes drama and brings in the ratings.

There are already too many Android phones on the market anyways. I don't think consumers will lose if they make more 5+ inch models. If anything, it will give them more choice and variety.

When casually browsing the web on the coach, a laptop is too bulky and a smart phone is too small. The Kindle Fire has a decent screen and the size makes it easy to hold with one hand like a book which makes it more comfortable to use.
