Holy fuck. This is awful. How can this woman call herself a Judge and claim to deliver justice? There has to be something we can do. Write letters, deliver flaming dog-poop to her door, something. Seriously, this judge is doing as much if not more damage than the woman’s abuser. Fuck this.

I’m fortunate that I’ve only seen people say it (write?) online and usually in some trollish-context to other things going on. I’m also super fortunate to have been raised as feminist as possible, so from a young age I was aware of the differences between how boys and girls were treated and as someone who likes to

Yeah, dummy thanks for making my point. I said nothing that stereotyped or discriminated against individuals or groups on the basis of their age. I simply used their age as the description to distinguish between the two Arab men I worked with.

Ageist would be if I had generalized people by age and had said, “Older Arab men are super chill and young Arab men are total dickwads.”

Aww shucks. I’m far from perfect. Kept myself up last night dwelling on all the stupid mistakes I’ve ever made. I just keep trying to be the mom I wish I had.

Yes, this is true. We had two Arab cooks; one was an old man and the other a young man. The old man was wicked chill and I loved working with him. The young man was a total asshat who hated having me for a boss because I’m a woman.

Also, you can take me with you. I LOVE telling people off, especially when they deserve it. Consider me your personal bodyguard. I’ll even sit with my arms in that bull-dog stance if it makes you laugh.

I find some Doc Mc Stuffins songs and episodes helpful, too. Glad to know I’m not the only one who’s watching them with my kid and then calling them up later when the tiny human gets all wacky! :)

I’m not even sure where this ‘boys will be boys’ phrase comes from. It makes my head hurt trying to extract just when someone might say it and what they hell they could possibly mean by it. Is it something that enablers say? Do these people experience cognitive dissonance? Are they only old and/or stupid people? How

I’m not terribly sure about that. I think modeling respect is part of teaching respect, which is a part of emotional development. However, I think that the young men who are going about threatening or actually blasting people to bits have a great deal of things missing from their development in the perspective of

Boundaries and respect go hand in hand. It is a matter of not crossing boundaries that demonstrates respect. We have very specific rules (and rules are an example of boundaries) that are simple and easy to enforce with simple questions:

I’m sorry that they still don’t get it. I had similar experiences growing up - the hugs, the tickling, the shaming if you don’t do what others want - and it’s all very icky. I read an article that explained how tickling is not a physical response but an interpersonal one, and that tickling a person without having the

Yeah, we suspect that part of the trouble with potty training is because in the crucial time frame of the past two years, mommy started grad school and then he started daycare (who didn’t really keep up with the potty training like they SAID they would) and we moved 3 times - with one more move in the very near

I think part of the problem is that we don’t to enough teaching kids that ‘No means no’ and then respecting them when they say ‘No’ to us (within reason of course.)

What’s next, separate but equal rooms and water fountains, and eventually schools? Seriously, this reeks of a headline ripped from a paper in 1815. What friggin century is this?

I like how you think that “...workers from Africa [...] to work...” is not redundant, but to say “ The Atlantic Slave Trade brought slaves” would be.

If slave and worker seem so synonymous to you, why not try using the alternate word in the context of your own life? For example, in a job interview, you could state what a great slave you’d make. I’m sure that would go over smoothly.

Yeah, I’ve never been happy with the kat von d liners either. Bought a dark purple that dried out by the time I got it home. Returned it for another one and it was globby and unusable. I avoid her stuff like it has ebola.

So this isn’t the look we should be going for?

OHhhh hey now! I may have to try something new then!
