Here the meaning of the word 'diktning' is the act of producing written fiction.

All the movies you list above are great movies.

"In what reality does America have any kind of obsession with Sweden?"

Well, I guess it's Scandinavia in general, although Sweden in particular.

My hunch is that a larger part of what drives the popularity of Larsson's novels is America's massive boner for everything Sweden, regardless of whether said popularity is deserved or not.

The books are pretty much Stieg Larsson's middle aged mastubatory fantasy.

Not to go jumping the gun, but I think this will be the one to split the audience.

Well this does look like a grand ole time if you add alcohol to the equation.

I was expecting something more along the lines of this.

I'm just not feeling it.

Off wikipedia (It won't let me paste the link, as apparently it's too long):

Oh, whatever happened to Emilio Estevez, bankable star?

Looks good. The ears need a slight toning down and the hat doesn't really work with the armor-like suit, but other than that, it could have worked for sure.

In a word, no.

I don't think it had anything to do with terror.

In King's defense, the original book was well paced, it didn't really have the problem with too much going on at once since it sort of expanded organically like a mystery and took its time doing it.

Liam Neeson, what are you doing? Fire your agent.

A few jarring omissions.

I guess eye of the beholder and all that.

If it was a stand alone property, it would be fondly remembered as a so-bad-it's-great cult movie.
