What happens when you crash into something pointy and/or sharp? Looks like you'd be in pretty bad shape if you went head-first into the corner of some granite/concrete/brick or a pointy cast-iron fence/gate. Just wear a freaking helmet. You don't look as stupid as you think you look.

Obviously none of these commenters has ever ridden a mountain bike on a trail in the dark. You need a very bright light with a good beam and a sturdy mount. Also, the people these lights (and the $400 bike lights) are geared towards are people that spend well over $1000 on their bikes.
