If you're not going to call the meats by their proper Spanish names, then you shouldn't call a meat wallet a taco.

Ugh. You're beating a dead horse (and so am I by responding). Read the other comments. Obviously there is no concussion proof helmet, but if a helmet helps against concussions AT ALL, then it is wrong to say "HELMETS DON'T STOP CONCUSSIONS".
If you read the rest of the thread, I'm arguing that a helmet can reduce the impact of brain on skull, not stop it altogether. I was speaking in absolutes with the first post since the author was as well. I may be wrong, but I will stand by my point until someone offers empirical evidence that NO HELMET TECHNOLOGY…
You spelled "me" wrong.
Granted, my original reply, which was mocking the repeated line in the article, did say "helmets do stop concussions." However, that was parody and should have read something more like "Helmets do help stop concussions." With that said, if a helmet helps to stop a concussion, then a helmet can be the determining…
I doubt even a mattress on one's head would eliminate concussions. I never said anything close to that.
Jesus Christ. The mattress was an analogy for the padding inside the helmet. The softer and thicker the padding (I'm sure there are plenty of other factors that go into it), the more give for the head. Hence, David Wright's giant helmet. What do you think makes that helmet so giant? Oh right, thicker padding!
Ha. I think the analogy works in that if the cushioning on the inside of the helmet is more advanced, your head will continue to move through the cushion, thus allowing the brain to take longer to catch up, resulting in a reduced impact between the brain and the skull.
But if they sometimes do, then they do. If they have, then they did.
I get that, and the car analogy has been used to death. Answer me this, though: that shit in the back seat of your car...will it hit the front of the car faster/harder if you run into a brick wall than if you run into a wall of mattresses?
You said it yourself: "Decelerate quickly and your brain is going to continue moving in that direction and slam into your skull"
If a helmet has ever "helped," that means a helmet surely has stopped a concussion.
I didn't say the brain slows down, I said the head slows down, as opposed to the head immediately stopping. If the head is still moving, logic says the brain will take a longer time to catch up to the skull, so the brain/skull impact will be reduced.
A softer helmet can help cushion the blow, allowing the head to slow down as impact is made, which would mean there is less of a chance that the brain will crash into the skull.
TIL that KD is a tool.
" I went on Kid Rock's cruise a while back for GQ and participated in a Speedo contest"
Don't need to be an old to get the reference. If you watched Chuck Knoblauch, you heard plenty about Steve Sax.
"But again, this is Deadspin, a smut blog without even a hint of impartiality on any issue that's more interested in dick pics than anything."
Yep, still unclear.
I am a fan of another NL West team, and I still love Kershaw.
