Mexico didn’t participate in the slave trade, so there actually aren’t *a lot* of native born black Mexicans. The first time I visited in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s, I legit felt like an anomoly. Stares like you wouldn’t believe (not threatening, more like...ooh, one in real life!).
