I mean...she’s not wrong. Neither of them are.
Oh, okay. A four year old knowing the names of her own body parts, as opposed to some bizarre, unnecessary euphemism, is deemed “more than age appropriate knowledge”? I think it’s perfectly reasonable knowledge.
So...you actually believe that referring to body parts by their correct names is “something that might possibly indicate sexual abuse” ? That’s just fucking weird.
I should add, the CPS worker was *almost* apologetic when I talked to her. She said they have to respond to every case of suspected abuse reported by a “mandated reporter,” but she realized fairly quickly that the “helper’s” suspicions were unfounded.
The helper thought that if she knew the correct words, there must be a nefarious reason as to why she knows the correct words.
My daughter was never removed from my home, but when she was four years old, I went to pick her up from pre-school and was handed a business card from a CPS worker and instructed to call. When I did, I was informed that they had sent someone out to the school to INTERVIEW my four year old because some “well-meaning”…
My real question is this: who does y’alls hair?
Hi Jane! Sorry to ask (and didn’t want to threadjack your post today), but do you have the ability to “ungrey” me? I’ve been here (by “here” I mean Jezebel since ‘07) since the beginning! Thank you :)
What’s up, Tracie?!
OMG! I’m sorry, but I had to (ruefully) laugh when I saw the cop’s photo - of course there’s no delay when the cop is black. And the unarmed victim was white? Shit...I’m surprised it took this long.
In addition to “bitter,” I know we’d be called jealous, too!
Meh. Should’ve been Dodai’s job, anyway.
Thanks for this, Julianne! I fucking love Stevie Nicks. Always have.
I love it. Honestly, it deserves some of the credit for my being able to lose 40lbs on Weight Watchers last year.
But she *didn’t* go home to Pleasant Valley - she came to San Francisco! She attended (now defunct after losing accreditation) The New College of California. Moping (well, maybe not moping) around the Mission. I’d see her on Valencia all. the. time.
My *first* thought is that you commented based on the headline, before reading LITERALLY the first paragraph where she addresses that it’s a true story. She’s just exhausted“by the onscreen depiction of a brown man wanting to date a white woman, while brown women are portrayed alternately as caricatures, stereotypes,…
Huzzah!! Welcome back, Jane! You (and Millihelen!) have been sorely missed.
