The heirs to the estate will sell the collection and later generations will have the opportunity to enjoy those works. You can’t say the same for a piece of art that gets sliced into

What does the quality of the piece matter? It’s a Picasso and therefore an important part of art history. Where do you draw the line? How many of our historical figures works are worthy of destroying?

You do realize, that’s what people have said about Picasso forever.

Why is this any different than ISIS destroying antiquities? It’s an act of permanently removing a master’s artwork for all generations to come. (Yes, I know it’s a linocut.)
