I guess it really does depend on the specific scenario, but most large companies are going to expect a salary range at the very beginning of the process. Then, at the end of the process, when they are actually offering you a job, there is an opportunity to discuss the specifics.

I don’t really think it makes a difference, to be honest. I think center focusing is just a bit easier, especially if you enable back-button focusing. Focus, and then frame. Boom. Unless you’re doing sports, or something similar, it’s that easy!
