Yup, too fast to even keep making the 'so-slowly-I-barely-noticed' reference anymore.

Fun fact: You all will now hear 'Aristophanes' instead of 'Mephistopheles' the next time you listen to "Wrapped Around Your Finger" by The Police because I have willed it so in your brain.

I know it's tongue-in-cheek, but Videodrome and Cube—for starters—for the unexposed. And Orphan Black on TV. Small things but still…

A tragic story about missed opportunities, cross-cut with contrasting parallel scenes of Kent Brockman buying his house at the right time.

Put a G on Lucas to place.

Times are tough in Little Chechnya.

I haven't seen that, nor have I seen Eye See You, which @BonerTime:disqus suggested. Yes, suggested. I'll have to add both to the list of homework I've been assigned today.

This sounds intriguing. There's something inherently compelling about fighting violence in a snowy, desolate landscape, as in wintry movies such as Fargo, The Thing, Insomnia and the like. Hell, I even enjoyed Whiteout, but that might have been by sheer force of Kate Beckinsale.

Not only that, but I could have sworn during the Ed Koch and Harvey Levin days—which is when I last tuned in to such a show—that there was a split-second thing in the credits that said that the producers actually paid all "judgments". Oh right, I totally forgot about that. I watched an episode or two because of the Seinfeld connection, and I seem to recall that the show taking cameras into the couples' houses was the source of the problems there.

Has there ever been one of these quasi-arbitration shows where they entirely drop the pretense of it being a court of law, and just have an H-lister 'celebrity' make capricious decisions after hearing as much or as little of the case as they want? I've sworn off reality TV but would probably watch, say, Flavor Flav

@avclub-605302b7b2612ace0b5716f3285b7ba0:disqus … Guy Pearce? Australian criminals? I'm sold. Thanks for the suggestion.

The directing and cinematography were the defining elements of True Detective. Never have I seen a show develop a distinct visual style so definitively at such an early point in its run, and Fukunaga was a big part of it. I hope other dramas also adopt the strategy of having the same director at the helm for all

Sharkphoon? Why would they set it in the western North Pacific? They're trying to make money here. Sharkicane maybe.

Are you sure they won't be covering it? From my understanding, only the premiere was posted online and the show isn't set to officially air until May 11th.

The Gary Webb Wikipedia entry also explains what he reported:

Motion that going forward we permanently change that noted pronunciation of "wick-ed-ly" into the Spanish-style syllable-timed manner of Travolta.

Way more stuff rhymes with Jay-Z. All sorts of diss songs could be written with useful words such as malarkey, signori, bourgeoisie, devotee, foresee…
