Agreed for airlines, but I tend to have better luck with booking hotels via an aggregator. Since I have no brand loyalty and my trips tend to involve multiple hotels, there is value in having all your stays in one place - at least for me. So far have never had an issue with hotels. Airlines, yes, hotels, no.
