I did read it and I didn’t think it was awful at all. Not my cup of tea, but not offensive in any way.

But she’s just making statements about herself. Maybe a lot of people wouldn’t worry about waking up with a stranger, but she would. She’s explaining her own reasoning. I don’t think it’s necessarily supposed to be applicable to every person on earth.
Honestly, I think that was the slant of the Jezebel author. I think she just meant it as a person’s sex life being in line with their principles, which is religion in her case.
It’s kind of hard to tell with the quotes chosen, but in the original article she uses “sexual integrity” in a way that just implies that she has the sex life that she feels adheres to her moral priciples. She’s just saying that conducts her sex life with the same convictions that she conducts the other elements of…
This article just kind of icked me out. What’s with the judginess and snark?
This situation is awful on a bunch of different levels.
Leaving aside the fact that you’re a huge jerk, this is clearly meant to be harassment and abuse against Leslie. They’re doing it just to be awful to her.
Whatever. She’s still a Ghostbuster, and they’re not.
100%. There’s no excuse for such a violation, let alone in such a public way. And, I would definitely classify this as a hate crime.
You sound great - not mediocre at all. I’d drink with you.

*facepalm*
It’s a choice in that people get to choose how they practice their religion. If one person feels more devout following certain customs (like not drinking alcohol, eating pork, having a kosher diet, etc.) that can be incorporated into how they practice their faith.
People are upset with the law and feel that it’s unfair to police something as personal and harmless as someone’s clothing. I completely support their choice to not follow this law, particularly when the French police are so selective in enforcing it.
This little cartoon is so spot-on. You can’t inflict freedom on people.
I’d be willing to bet that most people (nuns, men,...everyone who is not brown) would be allowed to be fully covered on a beach.
‘‘It’s the translation of a political project, counter-society, notably founded on the servitude of the woman.’’
It’s like the French lawmakers just have zero self awareness. How can they talk about the ‘oppression’ of religion when they’re literally telling women that they can’t wear harmless clothing on their own bodies.
... I can’t tell if you’re joking...
Don’t. The same judge would probably give you life in prison.
