It costs $0.00 not to be this way. For you & him.

I know it’s super late, but I would like to report that on top of the (at least) 10 minute grace, some people couldn’t bother to show up in a timely fashion so halfway through we had to stop and thank god, jesus, & the holy ghost for another 10-15 minutes. And I got in trouble b/c I thought I could sneak some food…
You say that like it will be the only desert. There will also be pies (unrelated cousin generally), at least 2 kinds of budino, tiramisu, & cassata at least.
Too much pressure. So much movement (cuz the kitchen crew knows where everything is & if you’re there you’re IN THE WAY & throwing off the rhythm). Naw - I’m gonna be elsewhere probably watching some sort of drama kicking up.
It’s true. I can’t eat out at all. I can also report that she would be more then happy to feed just about anyone, as is the way of all Nannas/Nonnas. (Sicilian/Italian)
I am so happy I have never been raised to kitchen status. Given there are at least 10 cousins older then me (here - not counting the ones still in Sicily) I probably never will. Thank god for small favours.
You know grandmas never write down recipes and concoct these amazing ass desserts out of the thin air, then when they’re gone, that recipe is gone forever.
And the rest of the family talks about it on end until Xmas. “Can you believe....”
I thought this was a myth that only occurred in tv shows/movies set in the 50's.
She is & you would make her very happy. She’s your stereotypical Sicilian Nanna in that she expects everyone to finish EVERYTHING on the table
Interesting difference between Italian-Americans & straight up Italian immigrants. That’s all crazy sounding to me.
Except for what I expect to be a difference in food this sounds an awful lot like a Sicilian thanksgiving. Right down to the descriptions of the people involved.
“Blue is the blood in my veins, even if mine ain’t in his”
She’s proven time & again that she is definitely witless enough to say this shit.
Ew I did not know that, but I still think that she did a good job not centering her own sadness over how she felt & instead saying how we needed to center the victims emotions & wellbeing & how everything happen right now was necessary was a good thing regardless. There are a million examples of “friends of X” who are…
Yeah, agreed. The only way Lena can ever look good is when she says nothing, but it doesn’t look like that’ll be happening any time soon, lucky us.
It seems like every time she opens her mouth she’s trying to outdo her last horrendous statement.
I thought Sarah Silverman’s response was pretty good. I don’t follow her, but someone showed me the video of her & she made a point of saying that she could talk about all the great times she has with Louis, but that doesn’t matter. He did it, it’s not about their relationship or how she feels, but about the women he…
David Duke & that horrible woman who got banned from Uber & Lyft also lost their checkmarks. I hadn’t seen twitter’s statements about it until now, but that’s a whole load of BS, especially since you can still go to their verification page:
Well it *was* close enough that they had to go to a runoff election so to me that’s enough to say that Chicagoans were telling Rahm that we ain’t happy.
