The most effective negotiation technique is to bring something back up once a person has been cleared of wrong-doing. No way that could affect any sort of selection...

I think the funniest part about this is how Western audiences are getting so much more bent out of shape about this than Japanese audiences. Most of the reactions I’ve read/heard have been mixed leaning toward indifferent.

I’m not defending her. I’m saying this is a stupid non-issue and that focusing on something stupid like this casts doubt on the legitimacy of all alarm over the actual, frankly terrifying shit on display at the convention.

I watched the actual video.

*facepalm* It’s not a Nazi salute. It’s a gesture that kind of looked bad if someone happened to freeze-frame the screen on one particular frame of footage.

You don’t apologize for stupid, harmless flubs.

This is very true. Mostly I’m just a little irritated at how weak the coverage at Gawker & Jezebel of the RNC has been both in general and specifically over the last 12 hours. They’re letting snark completely drive every post, when there are some genuinely interesting things happening.

Anyone who thinks this was an actual Nazi salute is in need of medical attention. Come on, guys. I’m not a friend of the GOP either, but this schoolyard bullshit coming from the other side is really getting over the top.

Doing “public speaking” for a living doesn’t mean you aren’t subject to sometimes doing dumb things on stage.

Umm, yeah. I’d say it’s probably a pretty safe bet that if you flubbed a waive and gave a Nazi salute on a stage in front of thousands of people you would ignore it.

Wouldn’t you?

perhaps we were losing because we didn’t have a formation, I was the only support, nobody was tanking or flanking, and it seemed like everyone assumed that our seventh teammate, Casper The Friendly Ghost, would push the payload

This is why I can never get into games like this: everyone is required to think in terms of

You definitely should go see it. I went in with low expectations but high hopes, and it blew me away. It is hands down one of the most gorgeous movies I’ve ever seen (minus the dalaran mage eyes; it’s seriously baffling how they can look so bad compared to everything else) proving that CGI heavy movies can work if

You cut right to the heart of it. This same dynamic comes into play when JJ Abrams does a movie. Critics with a built in bias and expectation of not liking it.

Agreed. I was glad to see a counterpoint.

I played WoW from launch and raided it through Naxxramus. I got such a rush the first time I finished those raids with my guild. It was just so... Epic. But life and fatigue pulled me away and I know I will never play it again because I just don’t have the time to take it to that level anymore

Oh thank god. I was really getting sick of the constant bashing of this movie by the writers who have not even seen the movie and just link the review to their own article in some witty quip like this as though its a collective opinion and the movie is universally fucked. I just watched it and I really, really liked

Thanks for the counter-point and downright catty finish. You’re a fun read!

Popular music is part of everyone’s culture. So nothing is being appropriated. I dislike Meghan Trainor but she grew up heavily exposed to music made by both white and black people. That’s her culture.

Actually it’s pretty well known within the world of “Creative”/art that a lot of things are taking existing ideas and taking them in different directions, combining things, etc. It’s actually really rare for things to be completely and utterly new.
