I’m pretty sure the moa was an actual bird from New Zealand that is now extinct. So not entirely fictional but I guess this is based on the flavor of the (video)game bird.

My mother is from the south and we always have hoppin’ John on New Years Day for good luck. Her recipe uses black eyed peas and smoked ham hocks - and a little sauteed onion and celery with the rice. I always like it with Crystal Hot Sauce. Good stuff.

I’ve subscribed to their bean club for a few years (with occasional breaks in between if I have a backlog). They are generally excellent beans and I really like their subscription box that includes a little extra something each month. However, one month there were these small round white beans from Peru that took

I once had a really nice 12oz Hitachino beer glass gifted to me by my server when I explained to her how much I liked it and offered to buy it. She also received a nice tip!

I used to live in Davis Sq but closer to Teele. After coming home from class or work late at night, Chipotle was very close and fast (even though Anna’s would taste way better). I get it. (This was 10 years ago though).

“Cream cheese and ham...”

I know it’s a typo but that might not actually taste bad - though nothing like cheesecake.

I went to The Evergreen State College - they have a few masters programs (environmental studies, public administration, and teaching) it was relatively cheap for an undergrad education, but this was about fifteen years ago. It’s a unique school that I can recommend and Olympia Washington is a cool place to live, close

They also make vegan oyster sauce that is made from mushrooms I believe. I haven’t tried it but assume it’s close. Second various types of liquid aminos as a fish sauce replacement.

A lot of places I’ve seen give you broth in one container, and everything else in another. It works well, you can reheat the broth if it cooled and get a decent delivery. I’ve gotten takeout ramen before, not delivery, but it worked.

It’s in the first sentence but perhaps that was added after your comment.

That $7.99/lb price seems to be based off of whole foods selling boneless skinless chicken breast - the most expensive option. A whole chicken would be much less and I got split breasts from Bell & Evan’s for about $2.50/lb (bone-in, skin-on breasts). Savenor’s in Boston/Cambridge MA is selling a fancy Canadian

The $8/lb makes no sense and sounds wrong to me - at least for a whole chicken. Bell and Evans whole air-chilled are around $2 - $2.50/lb in the Boston Area (in my experience). I can go to a high-end grocery and get a small fancy farm raised boutique chicken for close to $6/lb.

Hang ‘Em High - 1968
From Wikipedia: After a gang of men unsuccessfully attempts to lynch him for a cattle rustling crime he did not commit, Jed Cooper (Clint Eastwood) is saved by marshal Dave Bliss (Ben Johnson) and judge Adam Fenton (Pat Hingle). The lawmen offer him a job as a federal marshal with the caveat that

Although looking at that list more closely it includes norovirus so this is more illnesses you can get from food but that might be related to other things like an ill food-worker or feces contamination. Hmm...

Well the FDA lists more than a few types of foodborne disease-causing organisms that can make you sick well after a few hours after eating. Some don’t show up for one to two days and some as much as ten.

I love this too! I live nearby - that’s Somerville High School (MA) in the background.

In Boy Scouts that is what we called the cast iron pans with lid that you covered with charcoal. It was how you could bake a cake or cornbread while camping. It’s also a general term for a large lidded cooking vessel, often cast iron or enameled cast iron.

I have one from years ago that I still use regularly as do most of my friends. I use it to make seltzer, not soda. I’ll add a few dashes of bitters and lemon or lime juice to a tall glass of seltzer or just drink it plain. Cheaper and less recycling than buying lots of cans or bottles of it.

Your argument would make a lot more sense if Bethesda was a million dollar company. As it stands, they have more than enough assets to finance this legal action.
