Was anyone else more offended by “your husband disagrees with you”? Like, the nasty woman bit, yeah we get it Donald Trump’s an unrepentant asshole, but that just felt so much more like the type of sexism women face all the time.

Yes yes yes. I don’t know why Moffat gets all the applause. he is very formulaic and has a bizarre way of writing women - either sexless saints or big old desperate whorebags. The Victorian one was as you say. I say it and thought “well this is just project fanboy right now” and not in a good way.
I agree with everything what you just said there. Nothing topped that first episode and since then the show is more and more into the gimmicky visuals and fanfic fan servicing (with a layer of contempt for people “like that”). Aside Amanda Abingdon, there has been no improvements.
YIKES i didn’t think it would post the whole thing, but might be useful for other people. His partner is real piece of work too.
It’s astounding - the level of horrible shit that comes out of his mouth and he’s almost universally still loved. Meanwhile, people are wishing death on Kim Kardashian elsewhere on the…
The way Elementary handled Irene Adler was so much better. Also, Elementary’s Sherlock has never lectured a room full of silent women about how to do feminism.
I totally agree! That stuff was the very best part of it. (Well, and Natalie Dormer.) The natural feel of the drug addiction and friendship with Joan is so, so good. I need to go back to it.
I can see that. It’s not really re-watchable for the same reasons. I just find those 2 so entertaining and their chemistry so natural that I can kind of get past that formulaic procedural aspect.
Ugh, apologies, there were actually 2 gifs in that post but they disappeared! I was kinja’d ;_; ... my message didn’t make much sense without them.
I did like that one, my favourite though is where two white guys explain women’s suffrage and feminism to a room full of women
Not even mentioning the time he called Lucy Liu a dog (I know I know, British humour - I’m both Asian and British so I don’t need this explained, random ppl reading this) and rape jokes he made about his other female co-star... Top bloke.
Probably haven’t heard his Moz-style freakouts over Mooslims and multicultis and how rap was better before the blacks stole it or whatever he’s on about. Gobshite fuck. Plus all that classist bullshit about clothes. And the rest.
Not that I don’t see Cumberbatch’s (weird) appeal, but you gotta give JLM a little credit!
I prefer Elementary in literally every way possible. It’s the superior show. It’s far less racist/queerbaiting and far more progressive. Lucy Liu is way funnier than she’s given credit for and JLM is a dream.
strongly disagree
Good. Cuminmysnatch (no thank you) is awful and Freeman’s a racist twerp and I’m mighty sick of Gatiss sticking his face in all his work. Their Moriarity’s okay. All the female characters are terrible. Not gonna mention the evil, rape-obsessed Scot. Bye.
Whateves dude. Imma watch this shit. But as long as Johnny Lee Miller is awkward and clever on another channel? I’m cool. Also? Lucy Liu has a cool wardrobe and is cute with freckles.
It needs to be over. They finished up the Moriarty storyline too soon and thrashed around for interesting, coherent plot after that- and the cast and crew continue to shoot themselves in the foot when they open their mouths.
I have enjoyed this show but must admit that I think Jonny Lee Miller gives us a better Sherlock in Elementary than Benedict Cumberbatch does in Sherlock. Cumberbatch always plays Cumberbatch, so I couldn’t really see the character as separate from his usual performance. Miller aces it, and the supporting cast is…
Oh come on. I mean, there was that episode where Sherlock deduced that Chinese people are sneaky. That was pretty good. http://iwontloveyoulongtime.blogspot.com/2011/01/sherlock-blind-banker.html
Unpopular opinion: GOOD. This last season was brutally boring. I fell asleep during the last episode, woke up a significant amount of time later and had missed nothing.
