Marketing is everything. You can make the holy grail of videogames, it won’t matter one iota if you botch the marketing and the people who need to hear about it never even realize it came out, or if you don’t adequately communicate how this one is different from the first. I’m a bit surprised that apparently BS2 sold so poorly. Since in many ways it was far superior than BS1.

They don’t need the money - they need the publicity. Because they didn’t actively crowdfund Banner Saga 2 nobody bought it, even though it’s a much better game than Banner Saga 1.

Banner Saga 1 was pretty great. I just haven’t picked up 2 at all yet. (Seems I’m not alone on that either)

Pretty easy to criticize how they are running their business when you literally have no idea how much they’ve made from the first 2 titles or most of the costs associated with game distribution
