If Musk had any sort of automotive experience
“the researchers behind the project claim”(doubtless with the support of the Chinese government, for whom this is great PR)
“they don’t state its rate of fire”
The rate of fire caught my attention as well. My guess is that the batteries pre-charge super-capacitors, which would allow for the rapid discharge of energy. But then the pre-charge would probably take a few seconds at least.
So it’s going to be more like…
Tomorrow, I will release body armor made of mirrors.
Nah, this would just be torture for deer. It instantly carbonizes skin, causing a shitload of pain, but would not likely be lethal at all, since it’s not even CLOSE to strong enough to vaporize the tissue, allowing the beam to reach any vitals.
I can imagine it’s technically possible to meet their goals. The lithium batteries would probably have to pre-charge super-capacitors to be able to release that power in that short of time. Charging the super-capacitors would probably take a few seconds (at least) between “shots”. You aren’t going to be able to sweep…
The gun is entirely silent and its beam is invisible,
Yeah, they neglect to mention this is their goal, while their current prototype will probably fire this beam for .5 seconds/battery at a range of 15 feet.
This is bullshit.
This is something probably better expounded upon in a larger blog, but we get a lot of shit either way because we’re either all-in for Tesla, or we’re a bunch of short sellers blahblahblah.
My imagination is running wild reading this. Of course I hear laser gun and I think pew pew. But this is different. It’s a 2-second long duration invisible beam (they don’t state its rate of fire) that is designed in scenarios where you have clear line of sight from a distance, same as with a sniper type rifle. So you…
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. For comparison, here is the “spotless” plant the Model 3's competitor is built in.
I find it funny everyone went from ‘Tesla will never build 5k a week, Tesla is a failure’ to ‘that factory is very dirty, Tesla is a failure’.
Kinda funny that Ford is mocking them when they started in a similar way. Constant changes to make cars easier to assemble and a focus on vertical integration. I don’t get all the negativity on Tesla or why anyone would cheer for the most American car company in existence to fail. They are a very young company that…
I give them gargantuan credit. Has there been a single mass production, 100% upstart car manufacturer.... well, since... heck, the fifties?
Look at the videos more carefully. This isn’t a single recording from multiple angles: instead, it’s recordings of multiple events. You can’t tell what happened, or even if the whole thing wasn’t staged.
As a motorcyclist, my point of view is, if there are too many close calls, you’re either riding in a really dense urban environment where situations really are unavoidable... or the problem is actually yourself. Sure, it’s the driver’s fault for not paying attention, but what steps did you take to prevent yourself…
When you or a loved one are killed by this system get back to me with that quote.
bison78 - I have to agree with you. As the old saying goes, believe nothing of what you hear and half of what you see. The video is highly edited, that should be a warning to anyone with intelligence. People should demand an honest video before making any comments. Sorry, but those who has already drawn conclusion…
