Well, Stefan did kill Damons lady friend Andie, I'm guessing within a few months of Damon killing Lexie. I think there is some sort of weird, brotherly eye-for-an-eye thing with them. "I'll kill your friend, you kill mine… but in the end, we are still bros."

I do think that Caroline is justified in hating Damon, but she is being a bitch when Elena asked her to keep her Damon-hate to herself and she brought it up again anyway.

The Charlotte stuff was pretty good. I am ok with them occasionally walking the bizarro comic relief line, but I like my Vampire Diaries to be dark and snarky, not campy.
