With 60s and even 70s music you can hear the different production values, but musically speaking sure it holds up. Who’s really “topped” Hendrix?

Sure, I am not talking about music quality at all. I am talking about how music has changed. Music changed tremendously from the 1960's to the 1980's. Since then, and especially since the late 1990's (which is how this conversation started).

i don’t know about that. I’d say pop culture is moving much more slowly these days. The Simpsons has been on for 30 years. Survivor has been on for 20. Paul McCartney was relevant in pop music from the early 1960s to the early 1980s, and that was considered to be an exceptionally long time. Justin Timberlake already

I dunno, my mom made classic meatloaf when I was a kid, but also tossed a hard-boiled egg into the middle of it. When sliced, the anticipation of getting closer to the middle when you got a nice fat piece of hard boiled egg to go with the meat mixture was killer. I remain team meatloaf til this day.
