Having just eliminated meat from my diet, not having to deal with #1 anymore is a nice benefit I didn’t even think about.

Nice!
but then jezebel would have to find a way to replace that 28 percent of its blog posts.... ;-)
I’m envisioning it being like when old people add “the” to everything. “I looked at this great show on the Netflix last night....”
Sorry, I was playing on the subject of this post: http://www.avclub.com/lets-all-come-together-to-celebrate-big-strong-men-1798626701
I’m sure that’s crossed her mind, too!
But what would my gender studies professor say about this???
I think I see where we’re not connecting. Yes, those movements changed institutions. But with LGBT rights, for example, it’s fairly well accepted that individual acceptance of LGBT folk is connected to knowing an LGBT person. Which is like what Rodgers is doing here. He’s saying, hey, I know these people and while…
Well, let me ask you this. Has anyone ever convinced you of anything by shouting at you? I know I haven’t been. Anytime someone’s been able to get me to see something I was blind to, it was usually because they condescended to my level and met me where I was at. Again, it’s like children. You’re not trying to not…
I was talking about AR’s approach but, yeah, all you really need to do is read internet comments to see what Kaep’s approach did to many white people. But I think that’s neither here nor there. How I’m seeing this is in concentric circles, so to speak. Kaep did his thing and I personally loved it. But the biggest…
I don’t think you did understand me correctly but that’s likely on me. What I’m saying here is that, like with children, sometimes you can’t be quite so direct with them. Sometimes you have to be creative. Sure, I can get in another white person’s face, just like I could get in my kid’s face. And sometimes getting…
White person take: apart from putting an arm around a guy on Sunday like Chris Long or something similar, which I hope he does, there really isn’t much else he can do without the toddlers going “la la la la, i cant hear you, i cant hear you...” Which is to say, if he wants to get fellow white people to listen,…
He’s a man who does ads for Super Cuts in Seattle and everyone believes him. No one thinks he’s been to a black barbershop.
Jon has been bending the knee to the Dragon Queen (and a whole lot more)
So...discussing gun control after a shooting spree is politicizing a tragedy, but this is totally cool. Got it.
With the caveat that I also feel that looking out for the marginalized when you’re at the top of the social ladder is one of the basic obligations you have as a human, I quibble a bit (just a bit, because we’re on the same general page here) with your approach, only because it risks getting too complicated, ie - kids…
Mine is now 16. I raised him to look out for others and take care of others. He would come home from school and proudly tell me how he sought out the kid sitting by her or himself at lunch and hang out with them so they wouldn’t feel lonely.
hiyoooo!!!
