Again, I couldn't agree more. I like stories where the characters "diversifying traits" are as you said, just part of who they are. Not, who they are.

A great example of this is Jade from Beyond Good and Evil. She's a great lead character, appears to be of mixed racial heritage, and never feels like she's there to fill
