I'm actually more critical of gay characters than I am straight characters. If you're going to DARE represent me with one of the few characters, you better do a damn good job of it. More often than that, representations of me SUCK. I'm looking at you, Dragon Age.

AC had a game with a female lead: Liberation. They actually broke the rules of following the main character, Desmond Miles, to bring the story of Liberation. It didn't do well, so it is completely ignored by those who want to criticize the AC series.

Those games do not represent gay well at all. They represent gay as well as Barbie represents women. The Last of Us has been the best representation of gay men and lesbians as people who are not reducible to their sexuality alone.
