ESPN wouldn't be able to get away with this if the average sports fan wasn't a complete idiot. It is an area of interest where people seem rarely capable of critical analysis. Just think of the anger that SABRmetrics incurred, and those were just statistics. I don't watch ESPN, but if they don't give the idiots

Depends on the crime, but for getting shot in the head during a mugging it sure as shit does.

Nah, you're a victim blaming shit. Don't try to double talk, we can all read the article, and you make gross assumptions like the man wouldn't have shot if she gave him the phone.

Futurama isn't the first one to use this sort of an idea.

If I'm a super poor person in Ukraine, and I see valuables that survived the crash, you best believe I'm looting it. Cash does nothing for the dead.

NFL teams should be on blast for their conception of distraction. So should any media outlet that describes a player who by no action of his own (IE Michael Sam) as a distraction.

Actually, that was fine by MLB. It wasn't until the Pirates started loading up on the draft and focusing their spending there that MLB had a problem with uncapped drafts. Let's not rewrite history here.

Mr. Kalaf when are you going to discuss the actual issue here, which is the arbitrary limit on draftee spending? It was a move wholey intended to limit the ability of small markets to invest wisely while saving Boston/NY/LA a couple bucks.

Comparing 2d sprite work to 3d polygons is foolish. Furthermore, the 2d R/S/E looked better as 2D games than X/Y style does as a 3D game.

Yup, this is just like the Hillary Clinton bullshit. Clinton is a scum bag and so is Yellen. Let's not act like changing the gender changes the Tiger's stripes.

Me and you both buddy. The original GBC games were as good as Pokemon.

Philly is a terrible basketball market for a big market. No matter what the league is, a good portion of your teams won't be competitive in the last third or fourth of the season. Tanking allows teams in any market to have a real chance at real stars, and helps to keep small market teams afloat.

I don't see the issue with teams tanking. This whole thing is only an issue because New York/LA doesn't have the patience to let the Knicks/Lakers tank a few seasons to build their team.

The more time that passes, the harder it is to be a football fan with this kind of culture surrounding it. Also there better not be any puff pieces on Urban Meyer for a while. And as a Steeler fan, the next time some yinzer tries to tell you how classy the Stillers are, you tell him he is a jag off.

You'd need a Ken Burns type documentary on Video Games, with 9-12 hour long episodes on PBS.

The New York Times is too humorless a publication to be worthwhile at covering sports. Give me the bright colors and pretty pictures of USA Today's sports section. I don't need to impress every asshole around me by reading the NYT (and yes many NYT readers are assholes who want to be seen reading the Times).

I wasn't rationalizing any behavior mentioned in this article, just discussing why taboo makes a word more enticing to say.

People can be offended for a wide range of reasons, with varying degrees of how reasonable it is for that person to be offended. Gay marriage offends some. Children tend to use swears when they can or are alone because of the taboo involved, and because they know it is shocking.

Human nature dictates that you are going to want to say any word that people tell you that you can't. Also there are phonetic reasons why some words sound or feel better in the mouth in certain situations. Hard consonants play a role in this as well. Not to mention there is a discussion to be had on the utility of
