You know I consider my BS detector to have a very sensitive threshold, but the first time I got one of the IRS calls a couple years ago it caught me off guard. I hadn’t heard about this particular scam yet and I’d settled a small amount to the real IRS a year or two prior. Yeah the automated message sounded kind of

I sometimes have long 6+ hour drives for work. Got an IRS scam call during one recently and kept the guy on the phone for about 40 minutes, went so far as to act like I was interacting with a western union agent before he started to catch on. That’s 40 minutes of real calls he didn’t get to make so I feel like I’ve

I literally had identical shoulder surgeries, one on each shoulder, one year apart. One without insurance, one with.

I think JJ said almost that exact thing while doing press for Star Trek back in ‘09.

Wow, I have not seen this gem, but I sure am going to now!!

Thinking the same thing when I was reading it. I wonder if they used any predictive text at all, maybe to create a word salad that they’d write around or something. I don’t know. I chuckled a few times so mission accomplished.

I don’t think he’s been anywhere else.

I don’t think there’s a lot of actual fear with flu vaccines, though sure that is a component for some people. It’s mostly because flu shots are varying degrees of worthless. If you take the ~60% of Americans who don’t even get the shot and combine it with a <10%* rate of effectiveness, that equals worthless.

It’s been a secret wish of mine since the day Disney bought SW that they completely remake the prequels, even as far as naming them Episode(s) I, II, III. Those core story arcs that Lucas et al created would make amazing movies in the right hands, including the political stuff.

Thank you. THANK you. Gravity was advertised as a “real” space movie and I was excited as hell to see it. The very first goddamn scene has George Clooney doing loop the loops around the space shuttle or whatever, with an eventual crescendo of Sandra Bullock WALL-E-ing between space stations with a fire extinguisher

The very next comment below yours starts with, “To be fair...” along with probably 30 other comments on this page and the many thousands of other “To be fair” comments posted on kinja today. There are two more “I mean” comments further down from this one and surely thousands more after.

“Terrorists terrorists terrorists, terrorists terrorists. Terrorists terroriststerrorists terrorists terrorists.”

“If they were [here], you’d have trouble flying out of Newark airport.”

I’ve dived a few cenotes in the Yucatán. As long as you’re diving with a reputable PADI/NAUI outfit it’s not much different than wreck penetration diving as far as risk. I’d argue that it’s much more highly controlled and regulated than open water diving. Mexico is pretty serious about preserving these caves.

I mean, it will happen though, won’t it? General audiences will eventually get tired of the genre, won’t they? Hell, I started getting superhero fatigue years ago. I’ll come out for something special like Deadpool or Logan but I haven’t been to a core property release in three or four years.

Same. I really wasn’t impressed by CG Rachel at all. She had that strange soft focus fuzzy/glowy look in a movie that wasn’t soft focus, not to mention the stilted looking facial movements common to all CG humans.

Sincere question and honest answer. This is why I internet.

Unfortunately we all have JJ in common.

You, don’t, know how commas, work.

Can you guys please stop covering Hanson Robotics, or whatever company Hanson is operating under now? They’re the Paul Moller of robotics. They’ve been shilling the same re-skinned chuck-e-cheese mannequins for, what, like 20 years now?
