I adored BoTW, but the rain was a terrible decision. It just arbitrarily blocks you from reaching certain areas for a while. I figured eventually there would be a way around it, like a new skill or upgrading the climbing gear, but no. You just have to either wait or leave and that’s just bad design.

Yeah, since I hated everything about Breath of the Wild and what it stands for, I am going to do a hard pass on this one.

BotW lags HEAVILY in busy forest areas like around the kakoriko Great Fairy or in Korok village. The engine is clearly designed specifically for excellent performance of max draw distance & low poly assets, but it fails miserably with tons of close smaller assets. Especially if it’s raining.

I’m currently playing BotW and “it’s not just Assassin’s Creed: Hyrule” is highly unfortunate because the Sneak Attack is my absolute favourite part of its boring-ass combat system. I find BotW’s controls (using the standard Comfort Grip) borderline unplayable, the fights are never fun, and the weapon system... ugh. I

It sounds like the first sword has bonus damage when your health is 100% full. But, otherwise (i.e. your health is at anything other than 100%), has the same damage as the second sword.

I found BOTW way more frustrating than fun. I never thought about it being empty but that’s exactly the problem. It’s too big for It’s own good and if I found an obscure spot where I needed to climb and had to leave because it wouldn’t stop raining (I waited fifteen minutes once and gave up because the rain wouldn’t

And more personally, I didn’t like how empty and annoying Breath of The Wild was, with it’s constantly breaking swords, empty world and terrible performance.

I still get angry about how they murdered the Deux Ex series for this oppressively mediocre Avengers game. I’m so glad IO escaped from Square, Hitman seems to be doing well for them. Plus they now have the Bond license to work with. Never before has there been such a match made in heaven, I swear.

To be fair, that’s a very old image. The characters were altered before release, they don’t look like that in the final game. They look a bit less like middle-aged cosplayers.

These are the same people that said Tomb Raider and Hitman selling 3mil+ copies each were failures.

I agree. Kotaku’s staff really like both those games, though, which is why they’ve stuck around. I think it’s a little redundant to have both Stardew and AC on there.

Your’s. I said what I said in January of last year (check the time stamps on the OP and my comment you originally responded to). That was before Three Houses, Astral Chain, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Pokemon SS, Link’s Awakening, Mario Maker 2, and Animal Crossing - just to name a few notable first and second party releases

That’s truer now than it was over a year ago when I made that comment.

I literally said ranking in my first post. Re-read it dude.

I never said any of these games are bad. I said this ranking is bad. None of the games listed here are bad, but there are so many other big games that should have been on this list instead of many of these games.

I really don’t get the praise for it. For me, it just wasn’t fun at all.

BOTW is on the Wii U

You may need to qualify what a ton of exclusives means, and what 2 are the 2 of the best games ever made. I’ll remind you Breath of the Wild is not switch exclusive.

Pretty sad list so far. Only a tiny sliver of games that are not already available on another system and are worth getting.

Breath of the Wild is great, and I’m enjoying it a lot. It changes a lot of the series formula in a good way, and I think this may be my favorite version of the Princess to date. I love the visual style they went with, and the Guardians are both awesome and terrifying. It also has only four dungeons, all of which I
