Just because other brands are doing it doesn’t mean it’s not a stupid idea.

Yeah I think those wheels are off an early-’00s Civic HX... talk about a weird model to poach wheels from. Nobody bought the HX.
Disagree. My take is that they went for “everyday use restomod” aesthetic by merging the old body with new everything else. I’d rock it.
I’m not sure you need glass, although it could depend on the state. MT has no state inspection so I’m not sure the thing would need any sort of modification to get registered there.
I don’t know if you’re into watches, but think about Rolex. The Submariner and Datejust are iconic in the watch world, and a LOT of brands imitate aspects of those designs which may fall under this broad “particular lines, contours, colors, shapes or texture” ruling. I’m not certain Rolex would care enough to do…
Agreed with the commenters above. I haven’t spent a cent for FH4 beyond my initial purchase (which I’ll note was the Ultimate edition, more on that later).
Some companies are integrating it into the rearview mirror, so that would imply there’s no requirement that the display be in the console.
Yeah this applies to all of the B5s, when I was looking into B5 S4s that was noted as a really maintenance item when they wear out.
Curious for the backstory here, and I hope you get it back!
I bought a CPO 5 year old 5-series (F10) and daily drove it to 7 years old. The car was utterly bulletproof; zero issues during that time. I only got rid of it because I am a car addict who has owned 16 cars in 16 years of driving (obviously overlap in quite a few cases/currently).
My question exactly. I support the goal and idea completely but it isn’t a race if there isn’t a competitor. Is she racing a piece of construction equipment from the base there?
I still have these three too, and my backwards-compatible PS3 is still running strong after ~15 years.
These NSXs and air-cooled 911s (my choice) are the two best reliable, fun, and useable options IMO.
Shouldn’t there also be a custom/conversion category, ideally by era? Would allow for additional winners and an additional showcase of creativity.
“My wife drives a 3 row escalade, (which probably gets better mileage than the equivalent suburban,)“
I was today years old when I learned they offered a manual transmission in that generation of Escape and Fusion.
What you’re referring to in your second paragraph is called the “sunk cost bias” and most businesses have mechanisms in place to avoid falling into that trap. And, I’m sure this car was intended and understood from the beginning to be a loss leader/halo car.
SAME. Mine was absolutely an impulsive decision at the time, I just got it because I wanted it, but man am I glad to have a few years where I don’t have to worry about this.
Yup. There’s one friend I have in mind who I’d never let drive my cars for this reason. Not that I think he’d do anything incredibly stupid, necessarily, but I also don’t 100% trust him NOT to do anything incredibly stupid.
