“Again, I would be inclined to trust a reputable speed or racing organization more than a self promoted speed record.”
Congrats! We need a formal fleet overview, including pictures, since you’ve diversified from only Smart Cars.
Salt flats don’t allow cars to hit their maximum speed, the drag is too high. They also (typically) don’t allow you to run both ways at Bonneville which would preclude a legitimate world record.
I’d think/hope the same... I’m actually interested in looking into this once I see what my commute will be in The After Times but I still feel like there’s some monster of a catch somewhere, either financially or in some “steps which are a pain-in-the-ass” way.
Would the user need to register this vehicle, or would they be tagged to Volvo?
Yup. Having just done a thorough mechanical refresh of my old 911, this thing will easily be $30k to put right. As a donor body for an outlaw 914, though, where you’d be doing everything anyway... you could do worse.
Looks like a Macan, which is no bad thing IMO.
Gotta love that ‘60s chauvinism in the ad wording, too...
My late father, who was the biggest cheapskate/value hunter to ever live, did that with two air-cooled 911s in the ‘00s before the bubble took off. ‘84 Targa was sitting by the side of the road, non-running, with a “bird bath” in the sagging Targa top, as my dad liked to say. He paid $9,000 for it. Then 3 years later…
The lack of any attempt to hide or even organize wiring stresses me out. I cannot abide visible wiring, especially when it’s cluttered.
Definitely. I bet that everyone who watched Entourage through college like I did would have gone to see an Adrian Grenier/James Cameron Aquaman movie it even if it was terrible.
A Carfax should show this. They usually track mileage consistently and it’s pretty accurate.
Not quite! They’re actually mid-90s designs, the preceding platform was unibody.
I literally just went to Wikipedia to check that out and yup, the frame of an E-series you can buy today essentially dates to 1975. Unbelievable.
Adblock for YouTube blocks the ads before videos that YouTube adds, but you’re right it won’t block native advertising like what Hoovie does. DeMuro doesn’t do native ads unless its a product he genuinely uses; he spoke about it in a video (maybe on More Doug? idk).
A while back some automotive Youtuber, smaller than DeMuro, gave “real” numbers and they equated to roughly $7,000 per 1M views. I don’t know if that ration increases with subscriber base or not but it seems like a useful benchmark to have.
She bought it outright. Part of the diminished value process involved getting trade-in quotes from a few different Audi dealers; one of them mentioned that, if it had been leased, they would have taken it back and just sent it out for auction since they don’t sell damaged cars. It’s a calculated risk built into their…
Doesn’t surprise me. My fiancee’s brand new, ~2,000 mile SQ5 got hit last November and the final tally was something on the order of $25,000 to fix it. Totaling the car never came up in discussions with the insurance company. Their threshold to total cars is if the damage exceeds 80% of value. In this case the initial…
True, the Monte ones had painted black centers.
