I inherited mine from my father also when he passed a few years back; tons of great memories from the time he owned it so I’m looking forward to building on that for years to come.

Thank you! It’s a great looking car, and I love driving it.

Thanks! Looking forward to seeing yours as well!

Welcome! Would love to see a pic/writeup/story of your ‘84 911; I have an ‘84 Targa myself!

Everybody’s gotta go somehow. The coasts are where it’s at.

After work??

Stretching the CLK to include the CLK-GTR is a biiiiiig reach.

I saw one of those in CT a few years back, with NY plates. Unspeakably gorgeous car.

Same. Even my primary car hasn’t moved in a week.

I forgot about the oil seperator... good call. That did some damage to several of my friends’ A4s.

Having 4 slightly different variants of this engine in my household in the past (Tiguan, B8 A4, Q3, B8.5 A4), it’s not THAT hard to fix this issue so a lot of them were also repaired at independent shops or DIY. It’s completely plausible that it could have been done not at a dealer, thus no records.

I was just in the market to replace my DD 5-series and I stopped by an Alfa dealer after building my ideal spec online. The guy outright told me, not rudely just genuinely, that the mid-trim (Ti Sport) spec I’d built with several options wouldn’t exist, anywhere. They either sell them fully loaded, or mid-trims with

Audi A4s had those as recently as 2016; I’m not sure if the current B9 does. I just got one but haven’t taken the wheels off yet.

These cars are stone dead reliable. I got my inherited one roadworthy in ‘18 after sitting for 5 years. There’s still a to-do list of things to sort out since it sat, but over the last 2 years it has not needed one cent of additional maintenance or repair.

There’d be absolutely no point in replacing the AC in this car. It’d need an R134 conversion, and even once you took that financial hit the AC vents are, in cumulative total, roughly the size of an iPhone.* Slap some tires on it (fun fact the 16" tires this car takes are dirt cheap), fix the tach and the door handle,

3.2 Carreras are stupidly reliable, I actually think I’d say they’re more reliable than newer Porsches. The rest of your post is 100% accurate.

I own one of these and have driven Boxsters and Caymans... the fact that you’re even asking this question indicates you haven’t driven either.

Good to know. I’m shopping around and they make a compelling case.

There’s a BIG difference between affluence and spending, and it often doesn’t correlate.
