It wouldn’t have mattered. The Republicans have 51 seats and the Democrats have 49. The rules changed so it’s majority vote and not the usual 60. Those Senators who didn’t bother to vote wouldn’t have made a difference and every step on the campaign trail is leading to Iowa.

Yep. Like or hate Hillary Clinton; she would have been able to appoint the Supreme Court Justices and federal judges. Instead we get a right wing supreme court and federal courts packed with right wingers for a fucking generation. Because people were too pure to vote for Clinton.

This administration and this senate are irredeemable. This guy is just another one of the horrible remnants that will be left behind from this abomination of a government that our kids will have to handle in the future.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I’m pretty sure the majority of these judges’ “lifetime appointments” will be cut short by their arrest, conviction, and impeachment on corruption charges. The problem with filling positions with utter scum is that they don’t have the same charmed life that their scumbag leader

Two things:

We are fucked for years to come by this shitty administration.

Unfuckingbelievable ... and yet totally believable, sadly.

This is why voting matters. I don’t care who gets the nomination people better fucking vote.

Don’t insult vultures. They server an important purpose in the ecosystem.

The Root is political ALL the time.  I wonder what he’ll say to them.

You know what creatures I WISH were mythical?

All I’m saying is that I’m pretty sure the author of those specific stories has come out and said they’re fiction. However, I could fully believe that it was inspired by actual accounts he heard, or even fictionalized accounts of what he himself experiences.

Yeah, it was a little demon thing with cloven hoofs who’d try to lure kids away with her or something. I found it super creepy and also very atmospheric

It’s a famous line from Walt Whitman’s Song of Myself.

These are all much better than the winning ones but still, this year’s crop wasn’t particularly creamy, was it? My personal favourites remain the little girl in the bathroom story from like 2012 and the Venka story, which somehow didn’t win despite being SO fucking scary and beautifully written.

The last one reminds me of a story a friend of mine told me about her parents house -- apparently there is a friendly lady ghost there who also likes to read (a random medium/plumber discovered/talked to her while fixing their hot water heater and apparently she asked him the family can keep a book open for her at

Was the picture associated to the Ouija board story submitted by the author? If so, you might want to remove their real name from the image credit as they changed their name in the story so it sounds like they don’t want to be found out.
