In the A3 loaners I’ve had, that little knob does a lot and is kinda like the mini version of the big MMI hunkin’ dial. It does the MMI power (press down), volume (turnable) and rewind/forward (slide left to right). It’s quite useful but I’m not sure of its relative placement with the other things.
I think it was one of, if not the, first SUV’s that could realistically be used as an everyday car. I always paired those fake grilles with a lack of fog lights on a base model.. Then someone decided “I like those vents on that rental Impala... Let’s use them everywhere.” I hate it.. I would put extra fog lights there just to rid of the fake grille.
