The best way to get good FE out of your Fusion will be to drive it more like a diesel, i.e. worry less about boost and more about shifting earlier. Peak torque will come between 2000-3000…

It's essentially just a switch... there's IIRC a vacuum-powered control valve somewhere that direct the transmission in response to the lever setting. With that in mind, it's way overbuilt.
