You do realize other offensive gestures, symbols, and words were previously not offensive right? Them being not offensive at some point doesnt change the fact that they have been given new meaning.
yes. the same thing happened with the swastika. it was a symbol used by lots of different cultures but the nazis flipped it upside down(just like the OK hand gesture) and used it as a symbol of hate.

My gut reaction was to be annoyed because it just means “okay” and why let the racists dictate what it means. Then I remembered that no one has unironically used that hand gesture in 20 years, so I guess it’s way more likely that someone using it is being a prick.
If you’re about to say “But it just means OK you snowflakes!” that was exactly the point. The whole point of gestures like this is so that racist assholes can wink at each other then pretend they were just saying OK when they get called out.
