There is just no non-shitty reason to be working with this washed up, volatile asshole.

If it was voters’ instinct to think like this, it is possible Democrats would win every election for the foreseeable future without putting in any effort. Unfortunately, I don’t think voters tend to think like this, which means Democrats may have work to do to get this message across.
Maybe treating voters like they are blathering idiots too stupid to know what they want is part of the problem. Maybe the voters you’re talking about AREN’T voting against their interests, and maybe the voters who are voting are better arbiters of what their actual interest is than you are.
Child poverty was dropped drastically virtually overnight when child tax credit payments started going out after Biden’s stimulus passed. Not everything Dems could have done needs to take years to implement and show results. This is garbage excuse making, and people can’t eat bridges that will be done in 10 months.
I don’t care about any of that, because it’s not relevant to any point I’m making. Democrats have a majority in Congress and the presidency. I wish Democrats had done more with that majority to help more struggling Americans, and I think if they had they would have been in a better position today. I’m not saying they…
FDR had a supermajority where he controlled 64% of the Senate and 73% of the House. Currently, the Democrats have a 50-50 Senate and a Dem-controlled House by a margin of about a dozen Democrats. These are two radically different scenarios.
Not for nothing, but the only two presidents of my lifetime (est. 1984) to have been voted out of office after one term were Republicans. Anyhoo, I’m not sure how saying “I wish Joe Biden and Democrats had done more to help more people with their first two years in power” prevents “those on the left” from coming up…
Who knows? Maybe if you improve people’s lives in lasting and tangible ways they will throw you out of office anyways. Who can ever say? Herbert Hoover was a one term president whose primary legacy is “Hoovervilles.” Meanwhile, voters apparently would have kept voting FDR into office over and over again until he died.…
I agree, in a sense, that there’s a messaging problem. But when the message is “You just have to be patient and wait a while for your modest savings on lifesaving drugs,” there might be limits to how snazzy you can make it. Not to defend any Republican voter, but if your dad is in a position to be saving 73k a year (a…
“Hey voter, you know how you’re struggling to put food on the table, pay for childcare, and pay the rent (let alone save for the ‘American Dream’ of homeownership), despite working a full time job? Hey voter, you know how your reproductive freedoms are being taken out of your hands and given to politicians who think Th…
Okay? I’m not sure how “The things Democrats actually managed to pass will take years to show any results” is an argument here? Like, I recognize that some things that need to pass are longer term solutions to longer term problems, but there is nothing that says the government can’t address both long term and short…
I don’t see it as different from the owner or editor of a newspaper claiming their news reporting is neutral even though their editorial content is not.
I’m sorry, what evidence have you offered? What is the specific thing you brought up? The infrastructure bill? What about it? You expect me to argue against the (patently false) notion that people “instantly forgot” about it the day it was signed?
There is absolutely a conflict with a person who has open political preferences saying the platform they privately own and control will be politically neutral. It’s fairly obvious, and it strikes me as weird to pretend it’s not there. Political neutrality and political preference openly conflict.
What is it that “takes time,” and why does it take time? (Supply chain issues are not just now cropping up, they have been a problem for nearly as long as there has been a pandemic, so not sure what that example is supposed to mean).
There is only so much that can be blamed on voters’ supposed ignorance. It’s not just that people are ignorant of what’s in the bills, or are forgetful, it’s that the the bills that have passed just haven’t been enough to help enough people who need it.
It’s frustrating, because I already know on Wednesday that the supposedly liberal media will be parroting Republican (and frankly centrist/moderate Dem) talking points that Democrats lost because they focused too much on abortion, or because of defund the police or trans people. Almost no one will ask if maybe…
Yes, Musk claiming the thing he privately owns and controls should be politically neutral is directly “at variance” with him coming out explicitly in favor of a particular party in an upcoming election.
A right wing nut job tried to assassinate the Democratic speaker of the house thanks to years of conservative villianization, this is the latest in a string of anti-LGBTQ+ terror attacks. You see almost nothing about the latter in the mainstream news, and the media has avoided talking about the obvious influence of…
Alter her face could mean a lot of different things, and she specifies some of those things. I think probably Pugh, who has spent her entire adult life in show business, understands the role that makeup and makeup artists, which presumably existed on The Falling, play. So I would be surprised if she is talking about…
