Malcolm Gladwell actually had an episode on this on his Revisionist History podcast, well worth a listen if you’re interested in the history of McDonalds fries (and the reason they switched to plant-based fats)

Yeah, THIS exactly! Must be an American thing to let the water run while doing dishes (and then claiming it must be better for the environment to use a dishwater, yeah, go figure :P). In the Netherlands, almost everyone who doesn’t have a dishwasher does it your way.

“What tourist trap do you just know some other clueless commenter is going to recommend, and where should people go instead?”

Dutchy here, almost all of us drive manuals ;)
From 35 MPH+ (55 km/h+) we drive in 5th gear, so unless you want to do everything in lower gears and kill the planet (and your wallet), almost all tickets you’ll get will be in the 5th gear range, so I call bullshit.

Finally, I am amazed that this is not common knowledge. When I’m cutting peppers and someone starts about the seeds, I always give them the option to eat either the membrane or the seeds, and I’ll eat the remaining option. Usually that shuts then up fast :p

Am I the only one getting the false hope that you’re going to stop with this “sous vide” stuff everytime I read “Will it Sous Vide? Let’s Pick Another Topic!” in my feed? :P
