Well then, they’d best expand worldwide so we can all experience the superiority! Also, they desperately need better graphic design.
I’d be interested in the psychology of a person who engaged in racist “ching chong ching chong” bullying (which I certainly heard as a child) and then ended up getting that language tattooed on themselves. I think we should be careful not to conflate anecdotal acts with larger cultural norms though. Also of note that…
Uproar over cultural appropriation is BS 99% of the time. I think culture if too often conflated with ethnicity as well. It’s natural for culture to spread.
I actually think the “smooth” quality of the textures fits the visual style.
Well, I think you’re making an assumption from a biased viewpoint, but with so few words on this situation we can’t really know for sure.
He himself seemed disgusted and repulsed by those impulses.
His shame and regret were pretty obvious. It’s pretty silly to expect the exact right words in the context of a junket interview. I expect he’ll clarify this in the coming days... or maybe make it worse? We’ll see.
There was certainly a racist angle to this, unlike others have tried to say, but this is an exaggeration. He was looking for a black man to “have a go at him,” in other words, a violent black man to express his revenge urges on. If it were truly any black man, I think he could’ve easily just stalked someone.
His question then probably would’ve been “Catholic or Protestant?”
She has a giant face on a normal-sized head. She’s almost a cartoon.
Nah, there was no god at work here, the biblical precedent for bears is for god to send them to kill kids who tease his favored people.
See also Fedor, who gave up his Sambo and armbars-outta-nowhere in favor of reckless haymakers. He got away with it for a surprisingly long time.
I thought it was dumb fun.
So Julius Avery should get more director gigs?
I liked Cloverfield too, but it also wasn’t written or directed by JJ Abrams.
They’re both bad movies, but nothing in Rian Johnson’s history really justifies putting this immense franchise completely in his lap. That’s madness.
True!
My god I hated “Beyond” so much. I skipped “Into Darkness,” but despite the reviews I have a hard time believing it’s that much worse.
It’s a completely decent film that is watchable and mostly enjoyable but is entirely unexceptional, other than perhaps the choice of subject matter.
