Probably no. Works teams in LMP1 have to be hybrids, and I don’t think GM is willing to spend 100-200 million per season to do that. And they would have to develop a much smaller engine with better fuel consumption, etc.

2017 LMP2 is 5-6 seconds faster than the 2016 LMP2.

DPi is LMP2 with a different engine and bodywork. Same technical specifications, same chassis and BoP-ed to the same level of performance.

Given the amount of professionalism and the talent involved in the LMP2 this season, I’d say they are equally prestigious, for a driver.
