It definitely needs some Beat of the Rising Sun:
The only thing missing is some excessive race commentary/analyses and the footage of the commentators themselves, like this:
Grey is the official color of the 21st century.
It is that simple. Diesel rules have made everyone not using a diesel uncompetitive, and F1 has a cyclic nature where the most resourceful team will win, no matter the rules.
I’d rather say the motorsport involvement is dictated by what a certain company wants to do with its brand. Technology transfer is very much important (Toyota in WRC and LMP), but some choose marketing over that (Toyota in F1).
Therefore, nothing other than sound.
Engine issue was in 2010, when all Peugeots have retired and Audi swept the podium. In 2011, all 4 Peugeots have finished, but behind the No. 2 Audi. Also, in 2011, everyone other than Oreca’s old 908 had entirely new, smaller engines.
What is so amazing about it, other than sound?
It has absolutely nothing to do with it. Ban was in place for the ‘96 season, and they came back in the mid-’97, and won the title in ‘99. Also, GT-One made a debut in ‘98. And they were active in JGTC/Super GT all the time
I’ve only just seen your comment from last June, and I just had to give you a star.
Yes. Only one that was BoP-ed (in today’s terms) into the competition after some heavy lobbying.
Yes, although, I’ve seen most of the race live on TV/internet. And I’d say it’s not only a matter of toughness (or tactics), but the race strategy as well. Peugeot tried every trick in and outside of the book but still couldn’t beat Audi’s strategy.
And A7 was an answer to both.
You see, when you open the regs, you get one dominant team - whoever has the most budget and right now it is Porsche. It wouldn’t be the first time that Porsche raced against itself at Le Mans.
Toyota has just stated they will pull out if the scope of the hybrid technology is reduced, while Peugeot says they won’t come back until the costs are reduced.
It may seem strange in this day and age, but before they became beige, Toyota was building some of the coolest cars on the planet and had quite a big motorsport involvement.
