yeah pretty much. The insurance companies have contracts with certain healthcare networks — think hospital groups that also have general practitioners, obgyns, etc. — that you can use. If you go outside that healthcare network, it costs more.

I have a co-worker with four bad teeth that need to be pulled. Our office’s dental plan will cover 2. The dentist literally told her ‘well, if you can live with the pain, I recommend you do 2 this year and 2 next year, because otherwise it’s going to cost you x,xxx out of pocket’
