Again, if you don’t want to deal with the weirdness of car transactions - not a problem, as I’ve said multiple times. Pay MSRP and tax like you would on any other transaction. You won’t find a single dealer on the god damned planet who will fight you on that.

For the salesmen that don’t give out numbers in writing, there’s nothing to play off of when you leave in person. That’s why they do it.

How many times have you tried to negotiate the price of cheerios?  Idk a car dealer without prices posted.  

1) Short of zeroing out your profit completely, your price can always be beaten by the next person in line. Even if I’ve only got $100 left in the car, the next dealer just needs to make sure they’ve got $50 left in the car and they win.

While I always send off numbers to people who ask, I completely understand why salesmen despise doing that. You’re literally just telling the next dealer the client contacts after you how to beat your offer. They’re damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

Because I have worked in sales departments at dealerships forever, I have started and ran interenet sales departments.   He was told we don’t deal with brokers(some places with not) and just tell them to come in.

That person was told to say that, that is a dealership policy not a bad employee.   

Interviewer: “So, it looks like your resume has a gap from 2015 to 2020. What were you doing during that time period.”
