Tesla also has no competition for their own brand and therefore charges more than if they did.

I hate to break it to everyone for like the 4,589th time, but like it or not, flaws and all, the dealer system makes cars cheaper.

100% THIS!

Screwing people? I’ve bought man’s sold MANY cars, I can’t remember ever being forced to do anything by any dealer nor forcing any customer to do anything. Don’t like the deal, think you can do better, stand up and walk away. It’s that simple.

Sure. And then hopefully all the grocers, shoe stores, electronics retailers, realtors and basically every other industry follow suit.

Plot twist: EVERY car sold factory direct will have a middleman markup. It’s called MSRP. Most cars are not selling anywhere near retail. That would all change in the factory direct model, and is something people fail to account for in their seething dealership hatred.

I really don’t think you understand the dealership model and the benefits.

Yes. I was so incensed I glossed over that one.

Oh look, another defender of an actual pathological liar, himself spreading easily-checked, demonstrable lies...

Fitting that your icon is orange.

This is not really worthy of Jalopnik, sorry.

I respectfully ask you to provide one quote from a “Democrat rally...” that says any such thing.  If you can’t back it up, don’t say it, that’s called bullshit.

Your extreme RW bias blasts through loud and clear with your grammar. Here, I’ll fix it for you.

this country is fucked the longer republicans remain in charge

Rolling Coal = Tiny Dick Syndrome

This is so, so dumb. Fat white guys with more insecurities than intellect will eat it up.

What losses? It’s not their fault the internet is impatient and people are taking spy shots.

No kidding. Stocks have been overpriced for several years. Guess that happens when Cheeto dick cuts corporate taxes and gooses loose fiscal policy. The coronavirus has just expedited the inevitable recession. I’m sitting on 6 figures to invest myself.

So I take it you don’t like the modern swoops and facets and frippery right? And you also don’t like simple boxiness that hearkens back to earlier cars. Soooo... what do you like?

It was always fun wasting an hour with a customer on a busy Saturday who told you he had great credit, only to see they had two bankruptcies in the last 10 years and couldn't get a loan for a pack of gum.

I know dealers suck and everything, but one thing that many people don’t consider when it comes to new car dealers is a benefit of the franchise dealership model is having a locals sales point. Do you think a manufacturer is going to set up shop in all the little out-of-the-way places where some new car dealers exist
