That confused me too. Maybe he meant evaporated milk? But that’s still in cans. I’m at a loss.

Pretty much, yeah. He got the 1957 civil rights act passed through sheer force of will. That 57 act was a voting rights act, and really laid the framework for the civil rights acts LBJ would later get enacted as President. Extraordinarily impressive person.
I’ve never heard of an easement for parking. No one’s suggesting the homeowners can’t drive over the road to get to their home driveway / garage. The question is whether they can keep parking on the street outside the house for free.
That photo was taken midday. Those are the maids’ and contractors’ cars.
Yeah that’s the sticking point for me. If Twitter decided that no one was allowed to criticize the government on its platform I think there would be no problem. But I don’t think the government has the same ability to impose content based restrictions.
Yeah, I think this was a closer call last administration when they just used Twitter for like links to press releases. But i also don’t think the private corporation aspect is that important - after all, when I call my congressperson, I’m using Verizon’s network to do so.
(Caveat that I haven’t looked up if there’s precedent on this) I think so, particularly given that 45 has said that his tweets constitute official Presidential statements. I see it as akin to a Congressional office blocking someone from calling them not because they call too often or are abusive to the staff, but…
I think it’s got a good amount of merit. Our first amendment rights are about more than the right to free speech, they also include the right to access to public forums. Selectively blocking people on Twitter is a content based restriction of access.
Try Waterbar. Super expensive but great oyster selection and the views can’t be beat. They have a happy hour too if you time it just right (it’s from like 4-530 or something short like that).
Lucca actually has pretty great sandwiches. They’re on caviar - great option for a late Sunday lunch.
Same thing happened to me one time. A friend and I found a significant amount of cash in a DC Metro station. No money clip, no envelope, just cash on the ground. We stood around shouting for a couple of minutes to see if anyone within earshot had lost cash but no one responded so we kept it. I am positive that the…
It bothers me so much that they’re two H names with two different H pronunciations. There’s no alliteration!
Doubtful. We all think she’s an awful person.
BuzzFeed’s investigatory reporting is phenomenal. Seriously, you can scroll through their archives and find dozens of fascinating pieces.
Right?! Real progressive of you, Jezebel
Yes and no. It’s three separate miniseries with the same title. Different characters, plots, timeframes, etc. I wouldn’t classify 30 for 30 as a “series” (yes, I know it’s not scripted).
Betty Ford talked about that too. And her alcoholism. She was fucking amazing.
